Metrics and metric templates

How to define a measurable test in ClimbrLab, assign it to your athletes, request it again, and what restrictions dynamometer metrics carry.

The app interface is currently in Spanish only. Buttons and messages are quoted as you will see them, with the English meaning in brackets.

A metric template is the definition of a test: what is measured, how and in what unit. You create it once and assign it to whoever you want, as often as you want.

Creating a template

The wizard asks for:

  • The metric’s name
  • Value type: number, time or scale
  • Unit, from the list or custom (W, BPM, whatever you need)
  • Instructions, optional but recommended
  • Category: strength, power, endurance, technique, mobility, anthropometry or mental
  • Whether it requires a Tindeq
  • How it is captured, the protocol
  • Whether it is bilateral, to measure each side separately

The instructions are not decoration. They are what makes March’s measurement comparable to June’s: which edge, in what position, cold or warm, how many attempts. Without them you have numbers that cannot be compared to each other.

Dynamometer protocols

If you flag the metric as Tindeq, you can choose the capture protocol:

ProtocolWhat it measures
Max strengthThe force peak
RFD (explosive)How fast you reach that peak
Endurance / timeHow long you hold the effort
Critical ForceThe force sustainable over time
Reps to failureRepetitions until failure

The athlete sees the protocol cue during the capture, and the force curve is stored alongside the result.

Assigning and asking again

On the athlete’s metrics tab you have Asignar plantilla (Assign template) and Crear (Create), for a one-off manual metric.

Assigned but unanswered ones appear under Pendientes (Pending), with the date and an X to cancel the assignment if you got it wrong. If the athlete completed it a while ago and you want a fresh measurement, use the option to request it again rather than creating another template: that keeps the history in one series.

The athlete gets a notification as soon as you assign something.

The Tindeq restriction

If you try to assign a Tindeq-flagged metric to athletes without a device, the app blocks it and tells you who they are:

Esta métrica requiere Tindeq Progressor y estos atletas no tienen uno: {nombres}

(This metric requires a Tindeq Progressor and these athletes do not have one: {names})

The athlete list shows a Tindeq disponible / no disponible (available / unavailable) label, so you can check beforehand.

One warning: the athlete declares that once only, in their onboarding questionnaire, and today they cannot change it afterwards. If one of your athletes buys a Progressor later, write to us and we will enable it.
